Thoughtful care, clear advice and a plan that fits you
Choosing an aesthetic or skin clinic involves more than choosing a treatment. At Defyne Aesthetics Skin & Laser Clinic in Longridge, near Preston, we start by listening to what you want to change, assessing your suitability and explaining realistic options. Sometimes the right advice is to wait, choose another approach or have no treatment.
Why choose a nurse prescriber?
Kate Huddleston, Defyne’s clinic director and registered manager, is an independent nurse prescriber. Prescribing is an additional qualification for eligible registered nurses, with professional standards for assessment, safe prescribing and working within competence. A prescriber considers your health, medication and treatment history before deciding whether a prescription medicine is appropriate. Being able to prescribe does not mean every consultation ends with a prescription.
We explain who will assess and perform your treatment. If a medicine is needed for an elective cosmetic procedure, an appropriate face-to-face clinical assessment is part of the prescribing decision. Read the NMC’s information for prescribers.
Why choose a CQC-registered clinic?
Defyne Aesthetics Limited is registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC). Its latest published assessment, following an inspection in February 2026, rated the service Good overall across safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led. The public CQC profile and report allow you to read the findings yourself.
CQC registration and its rating relate to the services within CQC’s scope. The CQC report says that some, but not all, of Defyne’s services are regulated by it. Registration is an important form of external oversight; it is not a promise of a particular cosmetic result or an approval of every treatment offered.
Why does clinical governance matter?
Clinical governance is how a clinic organises responsibility for care and checks that its processes work. For patients, that means questions about training and competence, informed consent, accurate records, infection prevention, equipment maintenance, medicines, incident reporting, complaints and learning when something does not go to plan.
In its 2026 assessment, the CQC described clear responsibilities and accountability, appropriate governance arrangements for Defyne’s small team and a good learning culture. We want you to feel able to ask about risks, aftercare or a concern after your appointment. Read the inspection findings.
Why do evidence-based treatments matter?
Good care weighs the available evidence alongside your goals, health history and the limits of each treatment. We discuss what a procedure may reasonably achieve, what is uncertain, possible side effects, alternatives and the option to do nothing. We do not promise a guaranteed result or recommend a treatment simply because it is popular.
The CQC assessment noted that care in the regulated service was based on current evidence and good practice, and that patients were involved in decisions and informed consent. Your consultation should give you enough information and time to decide whether a treatment is right for you.
