Set up in 2014, Defyne Aesthetics based in Preston is run by Dr Pinar Akman and Kate Huddleston. The Preston Clinic has been set up to meet the highest standards. We have received training in the field of aesthetic medicine with recognised training centres, our laser is the latest piece of technology and our premises comply with the laser safety regulations.

We have chosen the latest equipment and best products available and combined these with outstanding training, motivation and expertise.

Kate has a bachelor of science having studied at UCLan, a well established University in Preston, who has now trained in aesthetic medicine and is currently undertaking an adult nursing degree.

She has specialised in laser technology and she is now providing top end treatments with excellent results with focus on anti aging, skin rejuvenation and laser hair removal. She has completed the level 4 BTEC Laser, Light & Associated Aesthetic Therapies Advanced Award and a level 4 award in Advanced Skin Science. Originally from Germany Pinar graduated in dentistry at Berlin University in 2002 and worked in various practices in Berlin specialising in oral surgery.

She also undertook trips to Brazil and Norway as part of aid and community projects. She later completed her PhD at the prestigious Charité Faculty of Medicine in Berlin. Shortly after she took on a temporary post in the Lake District and ever since then she has been in love with the north west of England.

Moving on to Aesthetic Medicine was a natural step. As a dentist Pinar has an excellent understanding of the features of the face and often had patients enquiring about cosmetic procedures.
She has undertaken various courses and classes in the use of injectable agents including Botulinum Toxine and various fillers and also expanded into the area of cosmetic dermatology involving medical grade peels and other skin treatments like Mesotherapy. She is also due to enrol onto a Master of Science in Skin Health and Aesthetic Medicine with the Faculty of Dermatology at the Manchester University this autumn.

Pinar is passionate about taking on forward thinking treatments and using them to combat the natural aging process and environmental hazards that our skin faces. As the clinical director at the Preston Clinic, she makes sure we are always at the forefront of science and development.

Pinar is a keen reader and loves to do all her DIY herself.

Dr. Helen Hughes BDS (Hons)
Helen completed her first degree from the University of Liverpool and later graduated in dentistry with Honors from the University of Central Lancashire. Her passion for education, life long learning and desire to consistently deliver the best to her patients means she is currently studying further for an MSc in skin ageing and aesthetic medicine from The University of Manchester.

Her dental background provides her with the ideal skills and aesthetic eye to deliver the best quality treatment to her patients. She has undertaken multiple courses in the use of injectable treatments such as Botulinum Toxin and fillers. Additionally she has undertaken training in the use of rollers and peels. Part of her filler training has been using the MD Codes – a modern approach to provision of volume that is lost during the natural ageing process.

Helen regularly attends industry leading conferences like the CCR Expo London and her ethos is to provide subtle enhancements that result in improvement to an ageing face. The frozen or plastic look is something she actively aims to avoid, instead aiming for today’s modern patient that prefers results of a brighter more youthful appearance or looking well rested/as though you have had a long holiday.

Helen also has a passion for education and research. She is an Honary tutor for Liverpool University (Hygiene and Therapy) and enjoys teaching as well as learning. She is also very interested in the application of modern research to prevention of ageing and how this can apply to her patients on an individual prevention level.

In her spare time Helen maintains her passion for animals and enjoys DIY, swimming and time spent with her husband and daughter.

The modern era brings a new generation of patients, and the new Elite MPX is the first aesthetic workstation designed to treat everyone.

We can deliver customized hair, vascular and anti-aging treatments to a wider range of patients – more quickly and effectively than ever before.

The Elite MPX combines two laser wave lengths in one workstation. This allows us to target different structures of the skin selectively, reach a specific depth were the energy of the laser is most useful and accommodate the needs of a variety of skin types.

Our laser is safe and super-efficient on pale white skin as well as coloured skin of all shades, robust skin on the back as well as sensitive skin of the face. This makes this laser so unique and universal at the same time.

We can deliver very high energy outputs with amazing results without actually harming the skin. This is also the main difference between a laser and a much more common IPL machine.

IPL machines deliver lower level energy of a wider spectrum. Therefore there will always be “collateral damage” of the skin and less efficiency within the actual target, whether it is a hair follicle, a vein or a birthmark.
